Election for University College Student Senators now open

The ballot for election of the two University College Student Senators to the University Faculty Senate in 2014-2015 has been finalized. The election is now open. Vote for the students that you want to represent you. Voting will close on Monday, March  3, 2014 at 11:59 p.m.  Please cast your vote online and urge your classmates to vote.

Certified child life specialist to speak March 4 as part of Common Read

 Penn State Brandywine will host a Common Read event with a presentation from Certified Child Life Specialist Tara Monroe on Tuesday, March 4, at 11:30 a.m. in the Tomezsko Building, room 103. Students, faculty and staff are invited to this powerful discussion, which is closely linked with this year's Common Read selection, The Fault in Our Stars.

Brandywine welcomes new chancellor

Penn State Brandywine welcomes Kristin Woolever as the fourth executive officer for the campus since its founding in 1967. She joined the campus as chancellor on February 1.

"I'm very excited to begin my service at Penn State Brandywine and build on the many successes that the campus has achieved," Woolever said. "As we look toward our 50th anniversary, we see tremendous potential to increase the impact we have on our students and our community through new programs, new facilities and new partnerships."

Calling all history buffs! Sean Moir discusses the Phila. Campaign of 1777

Sean Moir's presentation has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 20, 6 p.m., Main 101.

Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to join local Revolutionary War aficionado Sean Moir as he presents "A Fortnight in Chester County: The Philadelphia Campaign of 1777," Thursday, March 20, at 6 p.m. in the Main Building, room 101.

'All About Oscar' and the history of the Academy Awards, Feb. 27

Andrew Douglas Ph.D., director of education at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, will speak at Penn State Brandywine on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 6 p.m. in the Main Building Auditorium, room 101. His presentation, titled "All About Oscar," is a timely discussion about the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony. Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome at this event, which is part of the campus' Spring Speaker Series.

Brandywine alumnus becomes local doctor, commends alma mater

It has been eight years since Charles W. Sandor walked the halls as a student at Penn State Brandywine, but he makes sure to stop by whenever he can to visit the faculty and staff members who helped him succeed. Since earning his bachelor of arts degree in English, Sandor went on to become a physician at Riddle Memorial Hospital, located less than two miles south of his deep-rooted alma mater.

'Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!: The Evolving Artistry of the Beatles' April 21

Penn State Laureate Kenneth Womack, associate dean for academic affairs and professor of English and integrative arts at Penn State Altoona, will visit Penn State Brandywine on Monday, April 21, at 6 p.m. to present "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!: The Evolving Artistry of the Beatles." Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to join Womack in room 113 of the Main Building for this interactive, multimedia presentation.

Student returns home from research expedition in Borneo

It was only a few months ago that senior psychology major Megan Draper left her hometown of Springfield to seize an opportunity that few college students get. The Penn State Brandywine student recently traveled to distant areas of the tropical rain forest of Borneo, taking part in a seven-week research journey alongside leading experts. 

Brandywine undergrads seek medical solutions through organic chemistry research

Penn State Brandywine Interim Director of Academic Affairs and Professor of Chemistry John Tierney is taking learning to a whole new level. Students in his organic chemistry classes aren't only attending lectures and completing homework assignments during the semester. They're taking part in significant research, giving them real-world experience before graduating.

Penn State Brandywine graduates greet bright future

"You are our future.  I am in your hands, we are in your hands, my children are in your hands. You will be our teachers and small business owners, our farmers and military leaders, our policy makers and accountants. You will be our corporate executives, our medical professionals and lawyers. You are our future!"

These words were bestowed by keynote speaker Julie Gallagher upon Penn State Brandywine's Fall 2013 graduating class at the December 20 Commencement Ceremony.
