Sustainability

Penn State Brandywine is committed to the goal of promoting and supporting sustainability. We are working to fulfill the University mission of incorporating sustainability into our campus landscape, classrooms, and architecture as well as faculty and student research. We have initiated numerous projects and held many events oriented around issues or ideas that encourage human equity, ecological living, and a just economy while maintaining resources for both present and future generations. Toward this end, we have organized environmental workshops, celebrated Earth Day each year, invited speakers to campus, offered an Environmental Inquiry minor, integrated sustainability into our new LEED-certified residence hall and student union, adopted Common Read books on ecological topics into our curriculum, obtained a “pollinator-friendly” certification for the campus, collaborated with other educational institutions, shared student work on sustainability at our annual undergraduate research conference, and designed an award-winning organic garden, among other activities. We welcome your thoughts, suggestions, and participation as we continue to move forward with our efforts.
