Financial Aid

If you need financial aid to help cover tuition costs for the Summer 2022 semester, you will need to complete the FAFSA for the 2021-2022 academic year.

This is different than the FAFSA you completed for the Fall 2022 semester. If you a filed a FAFSA for the Fall 2022 semester, you submitted the 2022-2023 FAFSA. The summer 2022 semester is part of the 2021-2022 academic year at Penn State; therefore students seeking financial aid for PaSSS 2022 must complete a 2021-2022 FAFSA at studentaid.gov before the federal deadline of June 30, 2022.

Students who meet the eligibility requirements for the Federal Pell Grant for the 2022-2023 school year may receive a Federal Pell Grant towards the cost of the summer courses. Students may also be eligible for Federal Direct Stafford Loans for summer. The amount of loan eligibility is typically $5,500.

Additional supplemental aid may be available (maximum limits will vary based on individual circumstances) through the Federal Parent PLUS Loan or private alternative loans. Please choose carefully, as terms and conditions vary widely!

Note: While there is state funding for summer for new students through Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), PaSSS is a six-week program, and PHEAA requires summer enrollment of at least eight (8) weeks to be eligible for consideration.

For more information, please visit the Office of Student Aid website.
