Writing Studio

The Writing Studio provides help with any writing assignment for any course. We offer free, one-on-one tutoring to members of the Penn State Brandywine community. Our professional tutoring staff can help you at any stage of the writing process – from brainstorming to drafting to revising and more! We can also assist you with individual resumes, letters, and applications.

The Writing Studio is located on the upper level of the Vairo Library. Writers can sign up for face-to-face appointments and online sessions by using our online scheduler. We try to accommodate drop-ins, but priority will be given to students with already-scheduled appointments.

What to Expect at the Writing Studio?

The Penn State Brandywine Writing Studio values writing as a process and believes that collaboration is an essential part of that process. All writers learn from talking about their writing with other readers and writers. Our tutors will work with you at any stage of the writing process, but we won’t do the work for you. Writers should expect to actively participate in their tutoring sessions – this means coming to sessions on time and prepared to work with your tutor. Writers should bring their assignment sheets, any drafts they have, and a willingness to participate actively in their session. You can even come if you don’t have a draft! Just bring your assignment sheet and a positive attitude about the work ahead!

Our goal is to help create better writers at Penn State Brandywine. Serving both experienced and inexperienced writers, we value meeting the needs of the individual writer, no matter what his or her writing background, and we strive to create a positive writing environment for every writer at Penn State Brandywine. We’ll work hard with you to improve individual pieces of writing and we’ll also help you learn strategies and techniques that you can apply to future papers as well.  Through this collaborative process, you’ll learn how to succeed on writing assignments in college and beyond!
