Make an Appointment

Schedule an appointment

Please use the online scheduler to make an appointment at the Writing Studio.  While it is possible to get an appointment by dropping by the Writing Studio, we encourage you to schedule your appointment ahead of time with the online scheduler as our schedule fills up fast during the semester.

Here are some things to keep in mind when scheduling an appointment:

  • Appointments are 30 minutes long.  If you think you’ll need it, you can sign up for two back-to-back sessions (if available).
  • You can sign up for four 30-minute appointments per week.
  • You can try to drop in for a session, but priority will be given to those writers with appointments.
  • Any student who is more than 10 minutes late will lose his/her appointment slot, which may then be assigned to a walk-in.

How to use the online scheduler

Use our online scheduler to sign up for an appointment.

Please note that this is not a Penn State hosted system. For security of your Penn State identity, do NOT enter your Penn State password into the registration system.

  1. If this is your first time using our online scheduler, you must register an account. To do so, click the “first visit” link on the left. Students who already have accounts should skip to step 3.

  2. Fill in the information for all of the required fields, and click “register.” To receive appointment reminders and waitlist notifications via text message, be sure to sign up for the text message option at the bottom of the registration screen.

  3. Log in, using the registered email address and password.

  4. A white box indicates an available time slot. Select an available time, and click on the corresponding box. If you can’t find a time slot because we’re booked, consider putting yourself on our waitlist. On the schedule, click on the clock next to the day you want an appointment. Fill out the form, and you’ll be notified if someone cancels.

  5. Fill in the requested information, including what you would like to address during your tutorial. Please be specific. For example, “Review thesis and introduction” will be more helpful than “Work on paper” or “Proofread.”

  6. Once you hit “submit,” you should receive an email confirmation and the time slot you chose should turn a different color.

  7. If you need help, there is a “Help” link near the top-left of the registration screen. If you have any other problems, please contact us at 610-892-1352 or [email protected].
