Registering Your Vehicle / Requesting a Free Parking Permit
Parking permits are free of charge and are obtained by submitting a parking permit registration form. All vehicles brought on campus must be properly registered with Housing and Food Services. The parking permit must always be posted in full view while on campus. Housing and Food Services and/or University Police should be notified of changes in vehicle type or registration. You must re-register your vehicle and receive a new parking permit when your current permit expires.
How to Request a Free Parking Permit
- Have your 9-digit PSU ID number and license plate number
- Go to the Penn State Brandywine parking permit registration form: parking.bw.psu.edu
- Press the “register” button and fill out all fields.
Please register ALL vehicles you will be driving/parking on campus.

Rules and Guidelines for Drivers
Campus Parking
To park on campus, all students, faculty, and staff must display a valid Penn State Brandywine parking permit on the rear- view mirror of the vehicle.
All NEW students, faculty, and staff must obtain a parking permit.
Returning students, faculty and staff should review the expiration date of the current parking pass and apply for a new one if necessary.
Visitors are not required to obtain a parking permit and must park in the marked visitor spots in front of the Main Building unless instructed otherwise.
All motorists are expected to abide by the campus and University parking policies described below.
Student Parking
WHITE-LINED spaces are reserved for students and guests. Students may NOT park outside the Main Building, as this area is reserved for visitors, faculty, staff, and those who are handicapped.
Faculty/Staff Parking
YELLOW-LINED spaces are reserved for faculty and staff.
Handicapped Parking
BLUE-LINED spaces are reserved for members of our campus community who display the proper handicap registration AND University parking permit.
General Guidelines
Parking is prohibited in the areas immediately adjacent to the Commons/Athletic Center and the Vairo Building, as well as along the driveway leading to the Main Building and the Tomezsko Classroom Building. Special permits or authorized vehicles are the only exceptions to this restriction. Vehicles unloading in these designated areas are required to display flashing lights. Additionally, vehicles must be promptly relocated after unloading.
Access roads or portions of the main drive should NOT be blocked by vehicles at any time. This is especially true in front of the Commons Building due to bus traffic.
Driving on Campus
Operators of any vehicles on campus are expected to:
- Come to a complete stop at all stop signs
- Yield the right of way to oncoming traffic
- Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks
- Observe the 15 mph speed limit
- Drive only on campus roadways, not pathways
- Follow the rules of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code
Accidents/Assistance
ALL accidents that occur on campus must be immediately reported to University Police and Public Safety by dialing 610-892-1496 . Vehicles should not be moved from the scene of an accident until a police officer arrives.
If you lock your keys in your car, contact University Police and Public Safety for assistance in opening your vehicle. Please note that University Police may not be able to open cars with electric or security locks. University Police will also handle m inor vehicle problems whenever possible.
Safety
To protect your vehicle and your property, lock your car whenever you leave it. Do not leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle (e.g., on the seat). Lock all valuables in the glove box, center console , or trunk of your vehicle. Please notify University Police and Public Safety if you will be leaving your vehicle on campus overnight.
Violations/Fines/Appeals
Those who violate any of the on-campus parking guidelines described above will be issued a $25.00 fine.
The fine amounts that appear above are also listed on the front and rear of the ticket.
Tickets will be issued for violating any of the above rules and guidelines, and all fines must be paid online, for questions you can visit Housing and Food Services located in the Student Union Building (Room 104).
To appeal a ticket, complete the online parking ticket appeal form within 20 calendar days of the date of the violation. Further information on parking ticket appeals can be found here.
FAILURE TO PAY A FINE can result in student records being held. Please pay fines promptly.
Please note that fines collected for parking violations are deposited in the Student Government Association (SGA) treasury and used to further the student experience at Penn State Brandywine.
