Brandywine Social Justice Fair to focus on community involvement April 18-21

Penn State Brandywine’s Laboratory for Civic and Community Engagement will host a four-day Social Justice Fair on campus from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. daily starting Monday, April 18, through Thursday, April 21. The Social Justice Fair will focus on how students can get involved at Penn State Brandywine and in their local community.

'Trees (not Trash) for the Earth'

Penn State Brandywine presents “Earth Day 2016: Trees (not Trash) for the Earth” as part of the 2016 Spring Speaker Series at 11:30 a.m. April 12, in the Main Building, room 113. The lecture will discuss the pros and cons of cutting down old growth trees verses planting new growth trees and how both impact carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere.

Penn State Brandywine breaks ground on first residence hall, student union

Penn State Brandywine held a groundbreaking ceremony on March 29 to kick off construction of the campus’s first residence hall and a new student union building. The two new buildings are scheduled to open in August 2017. The residence hall will house 254 students and the student union building will include a dining hall, conference space, student recreation areas, the campus bookstore and student affairs offices.

Alumnus and current foreign affairs officer to return to Penn State Brandywine

Penn State Brandywine will host David Hardison, alumnus and U.S. Department of State foreign affairs officer, on April 7. Hardison will speak to Distinguished Professor of Political Science Stephen Cimbala’s classes at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the Vairo Library, Room 111. An afternoon reception at 4 p.m. in the Tomezsko Lounge will be held for students, faculty and staff to meet Hardison.
