December class of 2014 celebrates, encouraged to give back

Penn State Brandywine's fall 2014 graduates were recognized for their achievements at the Dec. 19 commencement in the Commons Building Gymnasium, with proud parents, relatives and friends looking on.

Chancellor Kristin R. Woolever welcomed the class of 2014 and encouraged the graduates to find something they are passionate about and to work hard for it. She also reminded them that they are the gift Penn State Brandywine has to give to the world.

Brandywine senior interns with Department of Energy lab

Information sciences and technology (IST) major Cory Kitay never imagined he'd be working nearly 2,000 miles away from Penn State Brandywine during his final year of college. The senior recently returned to campus after a 10-week internship program with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Established in 1943, LANL began as "site Y" of the Manhattan Project with the sole purpose of building and designing the world's first atomic bomb.  

Brandywine students network and learn from alumni

Transitioning into the "real world" can be daunting, but taking the precautions to become familiar with professionalism while still in school can help any student ease into the workforce.

Penn State Brandywine's Advising and Career Services office and the Student Government Association (SGA) hosted the Alumni Networking Event on Nov. 19 to allow students an opportunity to gain valuable tips about professionalism and career development from Brandywine alumni and Penn State graduate school representatives.

Brandywine professor emerita receives George Graham Service Award

Penn State Brandywine Professor Emerita Diane M. Disney received the 2014 George Graham Award for Exceptional Service from the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) in Washington D.C.

Disney accepted the award in November at NAPA's fall meeting. The award was named after NAPA's first president and recognizes sustained and extraordinary contributions toward making NAPA a stronger and more respected organization.

Life experience sparks Penn State Brandywine senior's research focus

Senior psychology major and Schreyer Honors Scholar Ebony Ford is taking her college learning experience to a whole new level, implementing a research study alongside Assistant Professor of Human Development and Family Studies Marinda Kathryn Harrell-Levy that investigates transformative relationships.

Penn State alum, friend of Brandywine to speak at commencement Dec. 19

David M. Rosenberg, Penn State alumnus, founder of the David and Marjorie Rosenberg Foundation and friend of Penn State Brandywine, will be the speaker at Penn State Brandywine's December commencement ceremony on Friday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. in the Commons Building Gymnasium on campus.

Rosenberg attended Penn State at University Park and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in health and human development. He also attended the Howard University School of Law and received his juris doctor degree.

Back-to-back: Brandywine soccer wins second straight PSUAC Championship

The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team made school history on Wednesday, Oct. 29, as it battled to a hard-fought victory over Penn State York in the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Men's Soccer Championship. This marks just the second time a Brandywine sports team has ever won back-to-back conference titles.
