MEDIA, Pa. — Nick Senatore joined Penn State Brandywine as the new housing and food services manager in the Housing and Food Services office in February. Coming from URBN as an assistant general manager, Senatore is looking forward to getting to know everyone in the Brandywine community.

Brandywine: What is your background and previous experience?

Senatore: My background has always been in hospitality. I grew up working in restaurants; when I was in school, I would work in restaurants because of the flexible schedule and the food. It’s a very fast-paced environment which I loved, and I’ve learned a lot from it, so I kept working there and worked my way up to a manager position.

Previously, I worked at the Kimmel Center, I was a line cook at a few different restaurants, and then I started working at URBN about ten years ago and worked my way up to an assistant general manager position.

Brandywine: What was your deciding factor in coming to work for Penn State Brandywine?

Senatore: I decided to work at Penn State Brandywine because of how great the hours are, which is rare to find in food service. Also, I live fairly close to campus, so it’s a short commute.

Brandywine: What are you looking forward to most during your time at Brandywine?

Senatore: I’m looking forward to getting to know the students and different clubs on campus, as well as getting to know the faculty and staff. I’m looking forward to working with all of those groups.

Brandywine: What are some goals you’d like to accomplish during your time at Brandywine?

Senatore: I definitely want to jump right in and learn the campus’ culinary operation, and then I want to find fun ways to engage with student organizations to promote their clubs.

Brandywine: Before coming to Brandywine, you were an assistant manager at URBN. What made you decide to pivot to higher education?

Senatore: It was one of those things that just fell into place, and I feel like it checked all the right boxes. I really enjoyed working in a campus atmosphere at URBN and collaborating with other departments, and I knew that would carry over into my time at Brandywine.

Brandywine: What are some of your interests? What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Senatore: Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and going to new restaurants. I’m also really into sneakers and love live music. I also like spending time with my family and friends and walking my dog, Kenzo.

Brandywine: Is there anything else you would like to add? Anything you would like people to know about you?

Senatore: Feel free to stop by and say “hello” if you’re in the Blue Apple Café. I’m always excited to meet new people and learn from everybody.
