MEDIA, Pa. — Penn State Brandywine’s student engagement expo, held April 12 in the campus gymnasium, highlighted the academic, co-curricular and experiential pursuits of more than 130 students.

Students showcased a wide variety of work completed as part of a class, internship, team, research project or student organization during the 2021-22 academic year, including:

  • Research projects in civic and community engagement, chemistry, communications, cybersecurity, biology, engineering, human development and family studies, information sciences and technology, and mathematics.
  • Internships in communications, human development and family studies, and information sciences and technology.
  • Studio art classes.
  • Student clubs and organizations, including the Brandywine Events and Activities Support Team (BEAST), Brandywine Music Association, Civic and Community Engagement Club, Lion Ambassadors, Multicultural Club, Paws and Claws, and Sustainability Club.
  • On-campus student employment with the Center for Ethics and Civic Engagement, IT Services, Multilingual & International Student Programs, and Residence Life.

More than 500 students, faculty, staff, family members, alumni and advisory board members attended the expo. Students’ work was exhibited through posters, displays, artwork and videos.

“It was so wonderful to see so many students showcased, and for such a broad range of achievements and talents,” said Deb Ousey, coordinator of Multilingual and International Student Programs and assistant teaching professor of English. “I learned so much about my students by engaging with them at their different stations or just seeing their work. I loved seeing the students shine as they shared their successes with the community.”

“Seeing students, parents and families, faculty, staff, accepted students, prospective students, and members of the community all together to celebrate the academic, artistic and leadership achievements of Brandywine students was phenomenal,” she added.

The student engagement expo was coordinated by Brandywine’s Academic Affairs and Student Affairs offices and Center for Ethics and Civic Engagement.
