Neil LaGreca to manage Brandywine housing and food services

MEDIA, Pa. — Neil LaGreca has joined Penn State Brandywine as manager of housing and food services. The campus will open its new student union building and first residence hall in August.

LaGreca, who earned his undergraduate degree in business from Penn State Hazleton, stumbled across his cooking career as a college student.

“I was a student worker in the kitchen at Hazleton, and as I worked with the University, I decided to change career paths,” he said.

After earning his degree, LaGreca continued to work with housing and food services at Hazleton, where he accepted a full-time position in 2010. This summer, he will bring almost a decade of experience in the kitchen to Brandywine’s student union building and residence hall.

Since the housing and food services department is new to Brandywine, LaGreca will work with new hires to create a professional, efficient dining experience for campus residents, commuters and visitors alike.

“Currently, we’re working on putting a menu together,” he said. “The next step is continuing to hire staff. We’re looking for about 14 full-time employees between the residence hall and the dining operation.”

It’s not easy to feed a campus of hungry students three times a day, but LaGreca looks forward to the challenge — citing his own Penn State experience as his daily inspiration.

“Early on in high school, I knew I wanted to go to PSU for college,” he said. “Between working for the University and earning my degree, I fell in love with Penn State even more. Now I get to use my career to give students that same opportunity to have a great experience here.”
