Diane M. Disney, professor of management at Penn State Brandywine, has been elected vice chair of the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA). Chartered by Congress as an independent, non-partisan organization, the National Academy works to improve the quality, performance and accountability of federal, state and local government.
Disney, of West Chester, was elected a Fellow of the Academy in 1997, when she was serving as deputy assistant secretary of defense for Civilian Personnel Policy and serving on numerous federal and international commissions. At Penn State she has served as dean of the Commonwealth College and chancellor of Penn State Great Valley School of Graduate and Professional Studies. She also serves on the boards of several Chester County organizations.
As a NAPA fellow, Disney has worked on management-related projects for the Defense Civilian Intelligence Community, the FBI and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Disney's degrees include a B.A. from Stetson University (English, Russian, journalism), an M.A.T. (English) from Duke University, an M.B.A. from the University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D. (policy analysis) from Brandeis University.
