Penn State Brandywine hires new chief of safety

 Lewis Sweigart has been named Penn State Brandywine's new chief of safety and police services. Sweigart previously served with the Penn State Mont Alto Police Department, where he worked as a public safety officer for nearly five years. Prior to that, he served as a waterways conservation officer for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and concurrently served as a part-time police officer at Penn State Harrisburg. Sweigart holds a bachelor of arts degree from Eastern University and is currently pursuing a master's in public administration from Penn State. He holds the ACT 120 Municipal Police Certification as well as a host of other police-related certifications. Sweigart is a certified instructor in police firearms, Monadnock Defensive Tactics Systems, police baton, Defense Technology oleoresin capsicum aerosol spray and Rape Aggression Defense basic self-defense for women.
