Penn State Brandywine celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first day of classes on Sept. 25 with cakes featuring historical photos, ice cream and apple pie. The campus property had been both a dairy farm and apple orchard in the past. Chancellor Kristin Woolever (center) and the Nittany Lion were joined at the celebration by four members of the campus community who share Brandywine’s Sept. 25 birthday: Head Softball Coach Mark Caserta, sophomore Brian Reynolds, freshman Brandon Welden and part-time instructor Thomas “Max” Guerin.
The total eclipse on Aug. 21 sent faculty, staff and students from around the state outside to watch the action. While most of the Penn State community had their eyes on the skies, two people at Penn State Brandywine were thinking about the ground and air around them.
