Latanya Moore
MEDIA, Pa. – Latanya Moore joined Penn State Brandywine as an admissions counselor, effective Oct. 13.
Moore previously worked as an advanced client support associate for Accolade and was most recently a senior benefits analyst for Amtrak in Wilmington, Delaware. Prior to these positions, she worked at Penn State Abington in admissions for 17 years. Coming from an admissions background, Moore said she is looking forward to being back in a college-campus environment.
“Latanya’s arrival has brought a fresh energy and perspective to our admissions team. Her wealth of admissions experience, dedication to student success and her collaborative spirit have already made a meaningful impact,” said Nicola DiFronzo-Heitzer, regional senior director of enrollment management. “We’re excited to have her on board and look forward to the ways she’ll help us continue to grow and connect with future Penn Staters.”
Moore said she missed working in higher education after leaving her previous role at Abington, so when she saw an opening for an admissions counselor at Brandywine, she decided to apply.
“I left Penn State Abington in 2018 to explore opportunities outside of higher education. Over time, I found myself missing college admissions, especially while supporting my own children through their college application journeys,” she said.
“I live in Philadelphia, so when I learned that the Penn State Brandywine admissions office was hiring, I jumped at the opportunity to apply, she added. “Getting a second chance to recruit for one of Penn State’s most diverse campuses feels surreal. It’s both a homecoming and a fresh start.”
While at Penn State, Moore’s main goal is to recruit and retain students at Brandywine, she said.
“I’m eager to roll up my sleeves and support the admissions team with recruitment, campus events and yield activities that help bring in a strong first-year class. I also plan to draw on my previous admissions experience to explore new strategies for attracting students to Brandywine,” she said.
“As the saying goes, ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ I believe it takes the entire campus community to yield and retain an incoming class. I’m excited to work with faculty and departments beyond admissions to support enrollment and retention initiatives.”
Moore said she also is interested in collaborating with the Penn State Admissions Philadelphia Office (APO) to expand recruitment efforts.
“I’m especially interested in collaborating with APO to expand our recruitment efforts into the city. Philadelphia is one of the largest cities in the country, and I hope to build new connections with student populations that would be a great fit for Brandywine,” she said.
Outside of work, Moore is a foodie and said she loves the Philadelphia food scene, especially brunch cafes. She also enjoys traveling, noting how much she’s traveled throughout her life.
“When I was a young girl, my father was in the Army, and we lived in Livorno, Italy (near Pisa) for three years. That experience sparked my lifelong love of travel,” she said. “One of my favorite trips was visiting South Africa with my sister-in-law. It was our first time in Africa, and we traveled with a group of 12 women. We split our time between Johannesburg and Cape Town and made unforgettable memories. I hope to return one day.”
