Asad Azemi is an associate professor of Engineering at Penn State University. He has received his B.S. degree from UCLA in 1982, M.S. degree from Loyola Marymount University in 1985, and Ph.D. degree from University of Arkansas in 1991. His teaching experience includes undergraduate and graduate level courses in electrical, computer science and engineering, and information sciences. He has designed and participated in a number of course development committees, and delivered several undergraduate and graduate courses, e.g., computer programming applications, information sciences, robotics, electrical and computer engineering laboratories, estimation theory and chaos theory.

Dr. Azemi is a senior member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and a reviewer for several major technical journals and conferences. His professional interests are in nonlinear stochastic systems, control systems, signal estimation, bio-computing, and use of computers in undergraduate and graduate education. He has sixty-eight refereed journal and conference proceedings.

In his classes, Professor Azemi has the goal of fostering a rigorous yet enjoyable environment in which students are challenged to perform beyond their comfort zone, developing their presentation, thinking and analytical skills. He views his primary role as teacher as helping students form independent ideas for problem solving. Through acquisition of a base body of knowledge, a commitment to life-long learning is emphasized in Dr. Azemi’s classes.
