Campus Closings, Cancellations, and Late Start Policy

In the event of an unanticipated closing due to inclement weather or another emergency, you may obtain official information regarding the status of classes by:

Sign up for PSUTXT

Enroll in PSUTXT, a service that lets you know via cell phone text alerts or email when classes are canceled due to weather conditions or if the campus has an emergency closure or other schedule alteration. Go to http://psutxt.psu.edu to sign up.

In the event of a significant snowfall or snow closure, please try not to leave your vehicle in the campus parking areas as it becomes very difficult for the maintenance department to clear the snow from the lots.

LATE START POLICY

In the event of a 2-hour delay:

MWF classes:

  • The first classes held are the 10:30 classes, meeting at the regular time, with a regular schedule following.
  • The campus opens at 10:00 and staff report at 10:00.

TR classes:

  • The first classes held are the 10:00 classes, meeting at 10:30 until 11:45, with a regular schedule following. Common hour is delayed until the 10:00 classes end.
  • The campus opens at 10:00 and staff report at 10:00.

University will transition to new emergency messaging service this summer

This summer, Penn State will transition to a new emergency messaging system, away from the current service known as PSUTXT. The transition to the new service, which will be called PSUAlert, will begin in late May and will continue through June. No action is required at this time. Find out what to expect.
