David Carvalho is entering his third season as Penn State Brandywine's soccer head coach. Carvalho was born and raised in Brasilia, Brazil and moved to Moorestown, NJ at the age of 15. Carvalho attended Moorestown high school and played varsity soccer for three years. In 2000 he helped his team to a state championship with an undefeated record of 24-0-1. During that season, Carvalho, was team captain and broke the school record for goals with 28. After high school, he attended Eastern University where he was named team captain his junior year and won a PAC championship in 2003. Carvalho was a first team all-conference player for three years and a regional All-American his junior year. After graduating Carvalho went on to become a the assistant women's coach at Eastern.
"It was a great learning experience to work as an assistant at the college level and I believe it has prepared me for this next challenge in my life," Carvalho said.
Carvalho currently teaches ESL (English as a Second Language) at Mariana Bracetti Academy Charter high school in North Philadelphia.
