Penn State Laureate Shares Poetry
Penn State’s 2010 Laureate Robin Becker will share some of her work during a public reading at Penn State Brandywine at 11:30 a.m. and again at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the Tomezsko Classroom Building Lounge.
Becker, liberal arts research professor of English at University Park, is the author of seven books of poetry, including her latest work, Domain of Perfect Affection. The book explores the conditions under which people experience and resist pleasure, according to University of Pittsburgh Press, which published the collection in 2006.
During her visit, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the poet and speak with her directly.
Becker has received fellowships from the Bunting Institute at Harvard, the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. She writes a column on poetry, titled “Field Notes,” and serves as poetry editor for The Women’s Review of Books. Her poetry has received national recognition, appearing in O: The Oprah Magazine and The American Poetry Review, among many others.
