Former Philadelphia Eagle Vince Papale, pictured above signing a football for auction at Penn State Brandywine’s 40th Anniversary Athletic Banquet, gave an uplifting and enthusiastic talk to a group of Penn State Brandywine students, former and current athletes, community members, faculty and staff. The unlikely Eagle, subject of the 2006 film, “Invincible,” described with great excitement the thrill of having a movie made about him, the importance of having the strength to pursue one’s dreams and the important role his family plays in his life. Papale said the most rewarding thing about being recognized in the film and now in his everyday life is the joy and hope he can bring to others. He said being able to inspire even just one person to pursue his or her dreams is more important than the fame he enjoyed as an Eagle or a film star. Current and former Penn State Brandywine athletes and staff were also recognized at the event.
