Penn State Brandywine offers the prerequisite courses for Allied Health professional programs. Students take courses here for 2 – 4 years and then transfer to an Allied Health program, usually at Thomas Jefferson’s College of Health Professions. NOTE: We do NOT offer clinical courses at this campus. Please contact Dr. Timothy Niiler (Allied Health Adviser, tan13@psu.edu) . Questions about applying to Penn State Brandywine should be addressed to the Admissions Office at 610-892-1200.
Penn State Brandywine has an articulation agreement with Thomas Jefferson’ College of Health professions for Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Radiologic Sciences, and Pharmacy that guarantees acceptance to our students if the following provisions are met:
1. Students must have a minimum 2.8 GPA. The nursing program has become increasingly competitive; students accepted for nursing have a minimum 3.0 GPA and most have GPAs higher than 3.2.
2. Students must pass all required courses with a C or better.
3. Students must have a recommendation written by the articulation agreement coordinator (Dr. Dudkin).
4. Students must complete all required courses before matriculating at Jefferson
5. There must be seats available in the program (Jefferson has rolling admissions, so students are encouraged to apply early).
6. All students of the Thomas Jefferson College of Health Professions are required to pass a police background check.
The Doctor of Pharmacy program at Thomas Jefferson is not covered by an articulation agreement with any institution at this point in time. Prerequisites for Pharmacy can be completed at Penn State Brandywine. Students take a standardized exam, called the PCAT and can then apply for the Doctor of Pharmacy program through PharmCAS.
Physical Therapy, and Couple and Family Therapy are graduate level, postbaccalaureate programs. All students applying for these programs must have completed a 4-year baccalaureate degree, including specific courses. An appropriate 4-year degree program offered at Penn State Brandywine for both the Counseling and Physical Therapy programs is Human Development and Family Studies. Science course requirements for Physical Therapy can be folded into the course requirements for the HDFS major. At this time, the campus does NOT have an articulation agreement for Physical Therapy.
